Cardiac-Mediated Syncope vs. Neurological Events
Cardiac syncope is frequently associated with arrhythmias or structural heart failure. For instance, Atrioventricular Block causes the heart to beat too slowly, preventing adequate blood from reaching the brain during physical exertion. Similarly, Ventricular Tachycardia can cause the heart to beat too fast to fill properly, again resulting in a drop in systemic blood pressure.
Etiology and Underlying Structural Heart Disease
Many patients presenting with syncope are found to have structural abnormalities. These may include Aortic Stenosis, which restricts blood flow exiting the heart, or Pericardial Effusion, which restricts the heart's ability to expand and fill.

The Role of Electrocardiography and Echocardiography
