System & Infrastructure (Admin)

AdminInfrastructure

System & Infrastructure tools manage the platform's data pipeline: State Benchmarks (generate state-level price averages), Places Population (bulk-add hospitals from Google Places), Registry Progress (track state license roster ingestion), License Verification (manage state license sources), and Price Extraction (queue of invoices pending OCR).

State Benchmarks
Generate state-level price averages from invoice data → creates benchmark PriceRecords
Places Population
Bulk-add hospitals from Google Places API → search by city/region → add veterinary facilities to database
Registry Progress
Track state license roster ingestion → see which states have been processed → monitor coverage
License Verification
Manage state license sources → configure field mappings → trigger roster ingestion
Price Extraction
Queue of invoices pending OCR extraction → monitor processing → retry failed extractions

1State Benchmarks

The State Benchmarks tool generates state-level price averages from all invoice-verified pricing data. For each state and procedure, it calculates the average, min, max, and percentile ranges. These benchmarks appear on hospital profiles as "State Average" (Tier 3) pricing data. Regenerate periodically as new invoice data is added.

2Places Population

The Places Population tool lets you bulk-add hospitals from the Google Places API. Enter a city or region, and the tool searches for veterinary facilities using Google Places Text Search. Results are validated (filtered to ensure they're actually veterinary facilities, not human medical) and added to the database. This tool is rate-limited by the Google Places API quota.

3Registry Progress

The Registry Progress panel shows the status of state license roster ingestion. For each state, you can see whether the roster has been ingested, when it was last updated, how many facilities were matched, and the verification mode (facility_license vs. practitioner_rollup). This helps track nationwide license verification coverage.

4License Verification

The License Verification panel manages state license sources. For each state, you can configure: board name, board URL, data access method (bulk download, open data portal, searchable DB crawl, etc.), data URL, field mapping (column names → canonical fields), status mapping (raw status values → canonical statuses), and facility filters. Once configured, trigger roster ingestion to update hospital license statuses.

5Price Extraction

The Price Extraction queue shows invoices that are pending OCR processing. You can see the processing status (pending, processing, completed, failed), retry failed extractions, and monitor the overall pipeline health. This is where you diagnose issues if invoices aren't being processed correctly.

Pro Tips

  • •Regenerate State Benchmarks after large batches of new invoices are approved.
  • •The Places Population tool is rate-limited — use it in small batches to avoid API quota issues.
  • •License Verification requires manual configuration of field mappings for each state — inspect the source data first.
  • •If invoices are stuck in "pending" OCR status, check the Price Extraction queue for errors.
