AI Chat Modes: Triage vs. General
Pet Triage AI offers two modes. Structured Triage is for symptom assessment — it walks you through questions and produces an urgency level. General Chat is for any veterinary question — costs, medications, procedures, and general education.
Structured Triage | Pet seems unwell → need to assess urgency → want care recommendations |
General Chat | Cost questions → medication info → procedure education → general vet knowledge |
1Structured Triage
Choose this mode when your pet is showing symptoms and you need to assess urgency. The AI walks you through a structured questionnaire: species, breed, age, symptoms, onset, severity, behavior changes, appetite, energy. It then produces an assessment with an urgency level (Emergency, Urgent, Non-urgent) and recommended next steps, including nearby hospital recommendations.
2General Chat
Choose this mode for any veterinary question that isn't an urgent symptom assessment. Examples: "How much should a dental cleaning cost for a 40lb dog?", "What are the side effects of Apoquel?", "What's the difference between core and non-core vaccines?" The AI retrieves relevant articles from our educational library and provides grounded answers.
3Mode Selector
Before starting a conversation, you must select a mode. This forces a clear distinction between urgent symptom assessment and general questions, ensuring the AI uses the appropriate approach for your needs.
